Definitley a B
D and I are attending a fund raiser(reason to buy a dress)this week. I found one at Forever 21 (I am certain I will be the only person there with this dress at the party since it’s not so much of a Forever 21 type of crowd) and while I know most of their cocktail attire is a bit “cheap” I am really happy with it. I did however need to go and buy one of those bras that defy all laws of physics. This dress is bellow the normal bra line in front and way beyond the normal bra line in back, thus requiring one of those deals with clear pieces and straps that wrap around you holding you up, yet remaining just awkward enough to make certain you will spend your entire event concerned about exposing a ta-ta.
Anyhoo…I went into Victoria’s Secret the other day to find one of those type bras and was immediately approached by a VERY young sales girl. “Can I help you?” she asked with the attitude of someone who actually has business shopping at Forever 21. I went on to describe my killer cheap dress and told her exactly what my hopes for this bra would be, like to look very hot but not illegal in any way (a’la Tara Reid). She showed me the 100 bra, and I have to say I was very impressed. “What size do you need?” she then asked to which I gave my standard 6 months post baby answer…”Hmm, I’m not so sure…I just had a baby. Maybe a 34 C or B? She eyed me up and down for a good minute and responded with “Oh, Your a B…DEFINITELY B.” Ouch.

I’m loving your blog! It’s so cool to have another mother-of-3’s (is that a term?) perspective on motherhood and life in general. I have the unique perspective of being Canadian, Black and my kids are older than yours (11, 9 &
but we still have a lot in common. You should write more often! I try to blog every day. Some days it kills me to sit here but I’m compelled for some stupid reason. It’s been almost 2 years. So. Very. Tired. It was nice reading this. I’ll be back often.

I know how that feels. I went from a C pre-kids to now a B, I lost what I had prior to kids. I went to Victoria’s Secret a few weeks ago and the sales lady voluteered to measure me and let me know my “true” size, I told her, trust me, I know my “true” size.. when I told her I was a B, she asked, are you sure..that really hurt…

I think dress designers assume that all women get enhancements, because some dresses simply do not cover bra straps. I agree that the blatant honesty of the sales girls at Vic’s Secret is really annoying…

Oooh, that’s rough! I haven’t bought a new bra (other than nursing bras) since my daughter was born 18 months ago because I’m dreading what the saleswomen will say. The “girls” have definitely shrunk!

I can soooo relate. After my third boy was born AND I was actually running and hadn’t yet resigned to being fat and flabby, I, too, entered Victoria’s Secret. I told the poor 19-year-old girl who got stuck with me, “I need something. I look like a prepubescent boy,” but I don’t think she really believed me until, after about the 10th bra she brought me, I pulled her into the dressing room so she could see the ugly truth for herself. She tried to cover the instinctive look of horror that came over her face as she silently swore off ever having kids, but I could see it. I didn’t care. I had no dignity left. Truth is–I wasn’t even a B! In fact, she had to dig through some hidden drawer and wipe the dust off some poor trainer-sized bra that probably never though it would see the light of day.
Now I’m 20 pounds heavier and STILL wearing that bra, although it is clearly too small for me now. But I just can’t bear the thought of making the walk of shame back into VS…
Love your blog! I’m a “mom blog newbie” and will definitely link to you! Thanks for making me laugh!

Hey, it’s no picnic when it goes the other way either. Me: I just had a baby, I think I’m a D…
Her: Oh no sweat heart…you’re MUCH bigger than that.
Me: pokes her in the eye with my cell phone antenna.

Uhhh… Yeah I know how that feels! I am stuck between the misses section(which, I don’t even know why they call it misses, it all looks OLD to me) and the juniors section. But I am about to be 30 and I have 3 yes 3 kiddos, 9,5,3. I think I still have the shape to wear juniors, I am a size 2! But when I get there and try on what looks too cute on the hanger, ugggg! My boob are too small (thanks to the 3 kids) My butt and thighs are too big! (also the 3 kids) And to make it all worse a 20 something boy at a store the other day called me Mam. I went home and cried! So I am feeling ya!
You have a great blog! It is very refreshing to read another mom’s views so close to mine! Keep it up!

LMAO, that was hilarious. I loved it! I also know what bra you’re talking about. LOL. Check out the other ones, that are in the same vein as the one you wore. They’re good for a laugh. How do the hold anything up?

Oh my gosh. The nerve of some people I tell ya! This is why I stay out of the “may we help you” stores when buying bras.

I’ve been a C my whole life and went in for a bra fitting and the VS girl fitted me with an A. See it could be worse - Oh bruise to the womanhood. But I have to say it is the biggest “A” I have ever seen in my life. I guess they are used to the silicone crowd at VS.

Those Victorias Secret girls can be harsh sometimes… in my experience they are like vultures. And judgmental too.

How hilarious! First off, good call on the Forever 21 - perfect place for a one time use item or trendy piece that will soon go out of style.
And, when you’re ready to get bra fitted - make sure to go to Nordstrom’s. It changed my life (well, not really, but I realized I was walking around in the wrong size, and no longer am hiking up straps or uncomfortable).
