Mom’s Night Out

Wednesday, 29 March 2006 : Filed under: MOM

Just got back from MNO. Had a great time, much talk about the Duke University Lacrosse Team rape deal. We were some pissed off mommies (our poor waiter). We all agreed that we felt bad, not only for the girls and their families, but for the mothers of the boys who must now wonder what the hell they did wrong for their sons to idly sit by and know a woman was being raped at that party (An un-wed mother working her way through college none the less) I swear if we’d had less wine we would have left the restaurant for one of the on the campus protests. It really puts the stress of raising pre-schoolers in perspective. This is just the beginning of the worries. All we can do is our best, and hope they have the sense to know right from wrong.

  1. I’m so disconnected lately I don’t know about the story you referenced. But I recognize the MNO acronym. Are you in a MOMS Club?

  2. No MOMS club, just a play group we have been in since At-man was about 6 months. We try to go out to dinner every other month, do a mom’s only beach weekend every spring. It’s pretty laid back, I think that is why it has stayed together for so long. Are you in MOMS club?

  3. I joined one when we moved to another city and I didn’t know anyone. My daughter was a year old and I was going nuts. Then we moved back to our old city and there was no chapter. In anticipation of getting pregnant again and wanting to have playgroups etc for the new baby, I founded a chapter as the one here had disbanded. I worked really hard and it became wildly successful but when I finally got pregnant again, I was too tired to do that much. Before I delivered, I stepped down as president and since my son was born, I’ve not participated. I blame it on his nap schedule but the truth is that I’m really not that interested anymore. I have enough demands on my time already.
