Things To Never Forget

Friday, 7 July 2006 : Filed under: MOM

How great it is to wake up every morning to a little arm grabbing my neck and a sweet voice begging to “just stay in bed and snuggle.”

How watching 2 sets of chubby cheeks sipping pink milk out of sippy cups while piled up in the middle of our big bed makes any morning feel like the start of a great Saturday.

What it feels like to be led around by someone 2 feet tall, their soft little hands gripping onto your index finger and tugging you around.

The feeling of fine baby hair on my cheek when I carry Em, collapsed on my shoulder, up to his nap.

Laying forehead to forehead after lights out, waiting for At-man to fall asleep so he doesn’t have to be alone and scared in the dark.

  1. I was getting a little worried…those exact things are the things I cherish. My two and a half year old is a snuggle-aholic and I LOVE IT! I adore holding hands with her, they are still so small and soft.

  2. thanks hipstermom. just when i was at my wits end with today’s temper tantrums, i got bella down for a nap and came to my computer to undwind. i needed that reminder of all the good things. now i cant wait til she wakes up so we can snuggle.

a question for you. you have probably mentioned before, but i am still new to your site. how far apart are your kids in age? bella is about to turn one. now the big question is, when do we start trying for the next one? any advice you have, would be great.

p.s. i am quitting smoking AUG. 1st. I am telling everyone so that i will stick to it.

  3. The boys are 2 1/2 years apart. Everyone will tell you something different but that is what worked out best for us, and I am still very pleased. When Em was born At-man was big enough to go to preschool 3 days a week which was great for us all, and even better, he was able to tell on the baby. Em still can’t get away with a thing without me getting a full report from big brother. They are still close enough that they play together, and get ready to puke, At-man told me yesterday that Em is “sort of his best friend”. AWWWW!

I was actually the last hold out on a second baby as far as my play group is concerned and as far as I know everyone was happy to have their kids fairly close together in age.

I am so going to hold you to the quit deal! Just chew lots of gum and keep in mind after the first few days it’s all down hill. I hardly even think about it anymore. Still haven’t gone to a bar yet but my birthday is this month so we just may have to try.
