YES MA’ME
At-man started Kung Fu classes last week. I know countless people who will tell you the evils of over-scheduling young children, but around here it’s either too cold or too hot to play outside making it worth every penny knowing he has a scheduled energy release twice a week.
Hipster D and I decided on martial arts because at 4, my baby is not yet a team player and because a little dose of discipline and self control never hurt anybody. I have to say the cuteness factor is off the charts. We have to spend a few minutes before each class rolling up the pants on the smallest uniform available. He gets to bow and say “YES MA’AM” and do round house kicks. There isn’t a kid in the entire class with the capacity to sit still for a nano-second, so At-man fits right in.
I think Em is enjoying it as much as the rest of us. He will sit perched in the class window for nearly the entire 30 minutes happily munching on Mighty Bites and applauding his big brothers classmates as they clumsily spar on the mats.
The annual dinner for the karate school is this Sat. night and At-man would like everyone to know that no peanuts are allowed to do any karate at the dinner. You can go ahead and breathe that sigh of relief.

Hi “H mom”
we put our son in judo class when he was very young—5-6
he was 12lbs 9/3/4oz when he was born and is still big (28yrs 6′3″) today
we knew he could “hurt people” if he got mad so we wanted him to learn self control and learn something about give and take…
just watch your knee caps when the children are short—short people can kick about as high as a adult knee

hi Hip “M” and family
yes the judo did help alot—he is also an only child so we wanted him to get used to other people and ruff and tumble–you fall down and get up
his judo teachers liked to work with him as he was big and strong—he is now in law enforcement—he has an even temper—and big and strong
